After a brief visit to Fort Conte, we sought repast to fuel further adventures afoot in Mobile. We followed recommendations that led us to Wintzell's and to order Blackened Redfish Bienville and Bread Pudding with Rum Sauce. Quintessentially Mobile. Yum!

Mobile Bay
We're camped at Meaher State Park on Battleship Parkway on Mobile Bay. The breeze is glorious and the sunset was lovely. We really enjoyed walking the pier as we made phone calls and set up plans for weekends with family members in Santa Fe and San Francisco.
County Road One
From a US Highway to a state highway and now to a county road. It's not just blue highways, it's back roads in Alabama. We're headed to Meaher State Park on US-90 just east of Spanish Fort and east of Mobile.
US-11
Gadsden to Mobile: GPS tells us to take I-59 but in contrarian manner we're traveling US-11. It's an old friend. In Virginia it's known as Lee Highway. We've met some nice people at the local BB&T and at Sneaky Pete's. Now to navigate our way through Birmingham...
Noccalula Falls
As we pulled into Gadsden, Alabama and approached Noccalula Falls Park, we realized we'd once before been here. This time we camped here and can recommend it as a nice place to camp. It was an easy walk from the campground to the park where we enjoyed the falls, the...
Into Alabama
Crossing from Georgia into Alabama on US 411. If memory serves us correctly family members traveled US 411 at least part of thw way from Cincinnati to St Petersburg in the pre-interstate highway days although they would not have been this far west. We are headed to a...
Mountain Fresh Creamery
One of the delights of traveling without an itinerary or planned route, is the ability to act on tips we get from fellow travelers. Last night we had a delightful conversation with Jani. She gave us some tips on visiting Mobile but she also mentioned a nearby creamery...
Delta IV GPS Satellite Launch
The buzz around the campground was of the launch tonight from Kennedy Space Center. We choose a viewing site to which we'd enjoy walking. With a stop at Xtreme Ice Cream along the way, we walked out to the Atlantic and meandered north along the dark beach aware of...
Barrier Island Living
We're settling here in Cape Canaveral. We'll be here for six nights total. Considering that our usual campground stay is one or two nights, this is a long one. The lifestyle is a bit like we had when we lived in downtown St Petersburg but the beach is closer. Today we...
Indian River Sunset
After brunch with Gary today, we hitched Eric the Red up to our Gypsy Wagon and headed into the East. We phoned ahead to make reservations at Wickham Park and discovered they had no vacancy. Time for a change of plans. Checked the Woodalls app and a few other...

Standing Indian Campground
Finally, Labor Day 2020 has come and gone so the camping season should begin winding down. Although we’ve stayed isolated at home since mid-March (with the one exception of a quick trip to Sugarcreek), for many it's been a year to foray into the world of RV travel....
Morning in the Mountains
As a counterbalance to our dreaming of hitting the road, and of field testing some of our new life on the road equipment in our own driveway, we're making a concerted effort to enjoy life in our mountain house. This morning we awakened in Sc@rlett, our T@B 400 which...
A nüCamp Visit
Back in January we made an appointment with Austin at nüCamp for June 30th, the Tuesday after üCamp20 to have rooftop solar installed on our 2018 T@B 400. Little did we know that Winklepleck would still be closed and üCamp20 would be cancelled. Thus we wouldn’t...
