We have come to refer to our group that strikes out on our own in port as “The Walkers Club”. The participants vary from port to port. The fewest ever was three in Belize City last year when the two of us and friend Ed discovered the National Museum of Belize on a back street. Today we were joined by several old and new members of the club for a record number of eighteen walkers. After thoroughly investigating this “Smithsonian of Belize” (no photos, please) four returned by taxi and the rest of us wandered our way through the streets of Belize back to our ship for the evening’s festivities and fun. After seeing CJ and a temporary dance partner win a bottle of champagne for participating in the evening’s show, we retired to our cabin to watch Karen’s alma mater become National Football Champions! Go Gators!
Burgh House Hampstead
Off the beaten path is Hampstead is the more than three hundred year old Burgh House with a fascinating history. It’s now a community center, local museum, gallery, concert venue, event space, and more open to the public four days a week. We popped over for a bite to eat and to peruse the galleries to learn a little more about Hampstead history.
