The weather has gotten chilly. The leaves are beginning to turn especially at the higher elevations so we did a Sunday afternoon drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway. At first we planned on lunching at the Pisgah Inn but we took a wrong turn. Instead we traveled past Graveyard Fields and through Balsam Gap. Just a few feet away from the BRP exit we found Balsam Mountain Inn still open for lunch. We feasted on Sauteed Mountain Trout and fresh vegetables. After lunch we chatted with the innkeepers and got a tour of the inn which was built at the turn of the last century. A fine way to spend an autumn afternoon.
Cuyahoga Valley National Park
Over a long weekend we sampled some of the myriad things to do in Cuyahoga Valley National Park, unique among national parks for it’s environmental reclamation, historic preservation, and recreational opportunities adjacent to the populous cities of Cleveland and Akron in northeastern Ohio. Can’t wait to return and explore more.
