Apple Squeezing

Family

Today was an incredibly rich day in the mountains. It’s Apple Squeezing Time. We started the day with a quick trip into town. Had to try the just baked Pumpkin Bagel at Annie’s and stop by the Tailgate Market for our CSA farm share, some handmade Mozzarella, an Heirloom Pumpkin, and several Acorn Squash. Then off to the Apple Squeezing. It’s an annual event at Allen and Joyce’s with grandchildren, family and friends gathering from near and far. The purpose of the gathering is to convert an truckload of apples – something like seventeen bushels – into cider to freeze and to enjoy over the course of the next twelve months. Of course a task like that must be accompanied by good food, home brew, socializing, and lots of laughter. We felt quite privileged to be a part of it.
