Old Cars Amid the Old Trees

2014 West then East, California, Road Trip, States

After catching on laundry, we left Petaluma this morning and headed up US-101 and marveled at the vineyards and the green and gold hills. We also wondered if this six lane divided highway was the road that we remembered wending it’s way through the giant redwoods. As we approached Willits we started noticing some early vintage cars traveling in our direction. One was fueling up at the Shell station where we refueled, made a quick lunch, and chatted with a family fascinated with our T@B. Further up we saw more of them headed south. We suspect a classic car event in Willits this week!

Bletchley Park

Bletchley Park

It was at Bletchley Park that the Allied Codebreakers deciphered German military messages during the Second World War. A free guided tour gave us a good overview of the campus and the activities that occurred here from 1938 to 1945.

Fenton House and Spaniards Inn

Fenton House and Spaniards Inn

A lovely way to spend a Sunday in Hampstead. We visited the historic Fenton House to view lots of lovely collectibles, to listen to and learn about harpsicords, and to tour and linger in the garden before heading off to the historic Spaniard’s Inn for a most delectable Sunday Roast.
