
One of the features of living in a rural area is the variety of animals you can encounter in the road. Most places you can come across dogs and cats crossing the road or even using the road to get from here to there. Squirrels are pretty common too. Here though, we enjoy even more variety. Chickens and other farm fowl, wild turkeys, geese, rabbits, or an occasional goat. Today it was Bossie ambling along our local mountain road. And a quarter mile later a groundhog scurrying across the road!
Dakar, Senegal: A Wolof Village & The Pink Lake
Queen Mary 2’s arrival in the Port of Dakar, Senegal was heralded in the local press and greeted with ceremony. Our own excursion took us on a coach journey through the streets of the capital city to visit a Wolof village and the shore of Lake Retba, the salty lake famed for an intense pink color.
