It was seven years ago today that we took possession of our house from Mary Kay, our tenant of twenty-four years. What a journey these last seven years have been. We’ve made some significant changes to the house, we’ve made lots of friends in the area, and entertained so many friends and family here. This place definitely occupies a special place in our hearts! We celebrated with dinner at Evolution Wine Kitchen, a new business in a location that has long been a favorite. And we ran into a friend there in downtown Sylva. It was a fitting celebration.

Queen Mary 2’s arrival in the Port of Dakar, Senegal was heralded in the local press and greeted with ceremony. Our own excursion took us on a coach journey through the streets of the capital city to visit a Wolof village and the shore of Lake Retba, the salty lake famed for an intense pink color.
