Northwest Washington has two seasons, sunny summer and dreary winter. We’re dancing on the boundary. Yesterday we enjoyed some glorious sunshine as we walked on Hurricane Ridge but today, on this last day of the Summer season the skies are leaden. We packed up and are heading south on US-101 along the eastern side of the peninsula. We’re seeing some autumn foliage and another sign that the season is done, a highway sign indicating the turnoff to a campground with an attached sign that the campground will reopen on April 1st. Guess we’ll not stay there this trip!
Burgh House Hampstead
Off the beaten path is Hampstead is the more than three hundred year old Burgh House with a fascinating history. It’s now a community center, local museum, gallery, concert venue, event space, and more open to the public four days a week. We popped over for a bite to eat and to peruse the galleries to learn a little more about Hampstead history.
