Crystal Bridges

2016 Out West, Arkansas, Road Trip

Today we had the pleasure of visiting Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, an unexpected treat in Bentonville, Arkansas. With Sharon and Mike we wandered through galleries marveling at the wonderful pieces of American art gathered here. At one point we were able to briefly join a tour of the museum conducted by Alice Walton herself. We lunched in the lovely restaurant that actually bridges Crystal Springs Creek. We were unable to get tickets to tour the Frank Lloyd Wright house on the property but did get to walk up to and part way around it. We completed our visit with a return to the overflow parking lot via the Tulip Tree Trail. We didn’t get to visit all the galleries, of course we wanted to save some for next visit. Hopefully we’ll chose a time with fewer visitors than at craft fair weekend!

Bletchley Park

Bletchley Park

It was at Bletchley Park that the Allied Codebreakers deciphered German military messages during the Second World War. A free guided tour gave us a good overview of the campus and the activities that occurred here from 1938 to 1945.

Fenton House and Spaniards Inn

Fenton House and Spaniards Inn

A lovely way to spend a Sunday in Hampstead. We visited the historic Fenton House to view lots of lovely collectibles, to listen to and learn about harpsicords, and to tour and linger in the garden before heading off to the historic Spaniard’s Inn for a most delectable Sunday Roast.
