There’s a good reason why we chose to head this way on a weekend. When Becca and Mike moved to this area a year and a half ago we promised we’d visit and Sunday seemed a fine option for folks who work M-F. And it means that we have local guides for our visit to Olympia, Washington. Our first stop was Cascadia Grill, a favorite of their’s and a place to which we’d love to return. Our server, Michael definitely took our experience to the next level. We made our choices based on his recommendations and were well pleased.  There was discussion of the history of the building and whether it was haunted, but certainly the vase that suddenly crashed to the floor within inches of Steve’s foot had nothing to do with a ghost!

The other Olympia adventure of the day was visiting the Bigelow House Museum, open for tours only on Sunday afternoons. Our tour guide, Joe, did an amazing job of steeping us in the history of the Bigelow family and of the city of Olympia from the 1850’s forward.

We popped over for a bite to eat and to peruse the galleries to learn a little more about Hampstead history.

Wicked The Musical

Wicked The Musical

Ever since its debut on Broadway the two of us have wanted to see “Wicked the Musical”. Today we realized that dream. In the Apollo Victoria Theater in London’s West End we were witness to the incredible prequel to The Wizard of Oz, the story of the Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.
