Started the day with a walk in the rain on Rialto Beach. It seemed like a scene from science fiction, perhaps Oo Topos. It was unlike any beach we had ever experienced. Instead of shells and white sand it had water smoothed pebbles and rocks. Instead of condos, it was lined with old growth forest. It was strewn with positively huge downed tree trunks. It was cold and rainy and gray and positively glorious! After a fish & chips lunch at a restaurant in the middle of nowhere we headed for the Hoh Rain Forest. That too, was a landscape like none we had ever seen. The Spruce Forest and the Hall of Mosses trails inspired in incredible awe. We finished the day at the Kalaloch Lodge with cedar planked salmon for dinner.

Cape Town: African Wildlife Adventures

With a UNESCO World Heritage Site, two national parks, dozens of museums, and hundreds of tours offered in the Cape Town area there is more than plenty to do. For our two day visit we opted to concentrate on African wildlife visiting the Aquila Private Game Reserve and the Boulders Beach Penguin Colony for a wonderful chance to these fabulous animals in their own habitat.
