Apples, Pie, and More

Family

Now we are deep into October.  We visited farmer’s market on Saturday then got a bushel of apples from Barber Orchard on Sunday.  It’s been a week of great eating.  We have almost a dozen pints of applesauce put up and apples for pie in the freezer.  We’ve eaten rainbow trout, fresh tomatoes, applesauce, apple pie, ratatouille made with white eggplant, sweet potato pie, asian pears, and other good things while doing projects around the house and yard, finishing the knitting of a fuzzy blanket as well as warping and weaving a table runner and six placements.  Now it’s time to head off to farmer’s market before the rain starts.

Bletchley Park

Bletchley Park

It was at Bletchley Park that the Allied Codebreakers deciphered German military messages during the Second World War. A free guided tour gave us a good overview of the campus and the activities that occurred here from 1938 to 1945.

Fenton House and Spaniards Inn

Fenton House and Spaniards Inn

A lovely way to spend a Sunday in Hampstead. We visited the historic Fenton House to view lots of lovely collectibles, to listen to and learn about harpsicords, and to tour and linger in the garden before heading off to the historic Spaniard’s Inn for a most delectable Sunday Roast.
