Grogan’s Ice Cream

Family, International, Ireland

Our plans to visit Tipperary were vague. We just thought we’d like to see the area that our Great Great Grandparents emigrated from during The Great Famine so detouring to the town of Cashel for ice cream fit with the plan. With the help of Yelp! we navigated to downtown Cashel, found a pay and display car park, and walked to Grogan’s Ice Cream where we were warmly welcomed by Tommy, the owner, and Thomas, his son. The delicious ice cream alone made it worth the trip but when we told Tommy honestly that we’d come to Cashel specifically for his ice cream, he encouraged us to also visit Cashel Rock, gave us complimentary general admission tickets and walking directions that would also give us views of an ancient abbey on our way to St Patrick’s Rock of Cashel.

The Irish Sun recognized Grogan’s as among the Best Ice Cream Parlors in Ireland!

National Portrait Gallery

National Portrait Gallery

It was a most educational visit to the newly renovated National Portrait Gallery at Trafalgar Square in Central London. We were intrigued with the contemporary approach to presenting British History.

Bletchley Park

Bletchley Park

It was at Bletchley Park that the Allied Codebreakers deciphered German military messages during the Second World War. A free guided tour gave us a good overview of the campus and the activities that occurred here from 1938 to 1945.

Fenton House and Spaniards Inn

Fenton House and Spaniards Inn

A lovely way to spend a Sunday in Hampstead. We visited the historic Fenton House to view lots of lovely collectibles, to listen to and learn about harpsicords, and to tour and linger in the garden before heading off to the historic Spaniard’s Inn for a most delectable Sunday Roast.
