Wild Wonderful

States, West Virginia

West Virginia is along our route today as we trek north for a quick visit to Ohio to watch granddaughters dance this weekend. As always we were marveling at the landscape and this time really delighted in the Redbud trees blooming at the edge of the woods all along I-77. And as always we talked about taking time to explore the state. Just before leaving the state we stopped at the WV Welcome Center at Williamsburg near Parkersburg. Outside we checked out the West Virginia Fallen Worker Memorial We’ve always found welcome centers a great place to begin exploring a region and vow to check one out when we begin an extended visit to The Mountain State.

  1. The Krieger’s

Sue and I ventured down to Nags Head, camping at Oregon Inlet NSeashore. In Reston VA for a few days and have been enjoying Spring. They have had snow back in Holland, MI while we have been enjoying temps in the 70’s. We’ll be in Ohio as well later this week. Put a new MaxxAir fan in our 320 and really enjoying it.

Bletchley Park

Bletchley Park

It was at Bletchley Park that the Allied Codebreakers deciphered German military messages during the Second World War. A free guided tour gave us a good overview of the campus and the activities that occurred here from 1938 to 1945.

Fenton House and Spaniards Inn

Fenton House and Spaniards Inn

A lovely way to spend a Sunday in Hampstead. We visited the historic Fenton House to view lots of lovely collectibles, to listen to and learn about harpsicords, and to tour and linger in the garden before heading off to the historic Spaniard’s Inn for a most delectable Sunday Roast.
