Way Back When

Family

What memories this place holds! The library at St Paul’s School has a special place in our hearts. All three of our offspring had the opportunity to explore the wonder of books. There may still be a few volumes here that we donated to the collection. Steve enlisted the whole family for help one summer when he volunteered to paint the library. It was then that we began our treasured friendship with Aunt Sister. And for Karen the memories go back much further to music lessons here, learning to sing so many songs such as”Getting to Know You”, “My Favorite Things”, to name a few. It also housed biographies of Amelia Earheart, Robert Fulton, and many more. It was definitely a window on the world in Grades 5-8. We peeked in here during an Open House this morning. We appreciated the chance to visit with some of the faculty, good people who provided excellent guidance to our kids in their education.

It was a most educational visit to the newly renovated National Portrait Gallery at Trafalgar Square in Central London. We were intrigued with the contemporary approach to presenting British History.

Bletchley Park

Bletchley Park

It was at Bletchley Park that the Allied Codebreakers deciphered German military messages during the Second World War. A free guided tour gave us a good overview of the campus and the activities that occurred here from 1938 to 1945.

Fenton House and Spaniards Inn

Fenton House and Spaniards Inn

A lovely way to spend a Sunday in Hampstead. We visited the historic Fenton House to view lots of lovely collectibles, to listen to and learn about harpsicords, and to tour and linger in the garden before heading off to the historic Spaniard’s Inn for a most delectable Sunday Roast.
