Museum of the Rockies

2016 Out West, Montana, Road Trip

On our 2008 trip we stopped here to get just a little taste of this stupendous museum. This trip we want to see more. We camped just a ten minute drive away and came in this afternoon to begin the adventure.  We browsed a bit in the Siebel Dinosaur Complex learning more about the origins of life, gazing at some stupendous dinosaur fossils, and watching paleontologists at work in the lab. We took in the 4PM Taylor Planetarium show, Lamps of Atlantis about the night sky over Atlantis 3,600 years ago. Then we spent some time in the temporary exhibit, The Villas of Oplontis gazing at frescoes and other 2000 year old fragments of a villa near Pompeii. A quick trip to the gift shop and we have a cool video to watch tonight about the largest dinosaur ever discovered. Time now to head east a few miles to Bear Canyon Campground to fix dinner and rest up for tomorrows adventures here!

National Portrait Gallery

National Portrait Gallery

It was a most educational visit to the newly renovated National Portrait Gallery at Trafalgar Square in Central London. We were intrigued with the contemporary approach to presenting British History.

Bletchley Park

Bletchley Park

It was at Bletchley Park that the Allied Codebreakers deciphered German military messages during the Second World War. A free guided tour gave us a good overview of the campus and the activities that occurred here from 1938 to 1945.

Fenton House and Spaniards Inn

Fenton House and Spaniards Inn

A lovely way to spend a Sunday in Hampstead. We visited the historic Fenton House to view lots of lovely collectibles, to listen to and learn about harpsicords, and to tour and linger in the garden before heading off to the historic Spaniard’s Inn for a most delectable Sunday Roast.
