After enjoying a marvelous day yesterday that included lots of conversation, excavations in the sandbox, supervision of the firewood splitting project, treehouse exploration, and a dinner of salad and gourmet pizza followed homemade Rosemary Shoofly Pie, the majority of the gathering departed this morning for a family celebration in Albany. That leaves four of us to savor a quiet day here on the lake on Cape Cod.
Dakar, Senegal: A Wolof Village & The Pink Lake
Queen Mary 2’s arrival in the Port of Dakar, Senegal was heralded in the local press and greeted with ceremony. Our own excursion took us on a coach journey through the streets of the capital city to visit a Wolof village and the shore of Lake Retba, the salty lake famed for an intense pink color.
