Once more we made the trip from Middleboro into the heart of Boston to visit Linus and his parents. This time we needed to run an errand for them first so we did some extra walking (Our Fitbits liked that!) and along a different route than yesterday. Along the way we...

We Got to Hold Him!
Talk about grandparental glory! We got to visit with Rachel, Greg, and Linus today AND we got to hold the little one! We also got to dine with Greg in the hospital cafeteria giving Rachel some relative quiet time to nurse the wee one. It was a most delightful visit!
Rachel Report:
Rachel reports that overnight she alternated between dozing and nursing Linus and that this morning she successfully ate breakfast dropping only a little of it on the baby's head. Hopefully this afternoon we will be able to go visit this little guy.
A Visit & A Celebration
We made our way into Boston today. Drove part of the way, parked, and took the "T" into town then, walked the final mile plus to Boston Medical Center. There we and Rachel's parents had an opportunity for a very brief visit with Rachel before Greg accompanied us to...
A First!
Less than eighteen hours old and he has already made his first appearance on Facebook. This is the photo his daddy posted!
Linus James!
Greg & Rachel's son was born this morning, October 1st at 2:49AM, weighing in at 7 pounds and 7 ounces. He looks beautiful! His proud grandparents can't wait for an opportunity to meet him!
Fine Company, Fine Dinner
We had a wonderful evening with Rachel and Greg. We arrived early enough to get a tour of the home improvements before Greg arrived home from work. Then on this beautiful early Fall evening we walked south on Dot Ave to the Ashmont neighborhood to enjoy a fine dinner...
Cape Charles
In the 1930's Uncle Len and Aunt Anne moved with their three sons from Cincinnati to Cape Charles, Virginia, where he worked as a machinist for Heekin Can Company and where their youngest soon was born. We drove through this delightful little town and based on census...
To AVL and Back
Lou and Bill booked their flights home out of Asheville for midday Saturday so we would not have to get up early and rush to the airport. It saved us the rush but we still chose to arise and leave the house early to allow us plenty of time to locate a particular...
Waterfalls, BBQ, and Waterfalls
To give Lou and Bill a taste of life in WNC, we did a waterfalls day. Of course we started the day with coffee on the deck but from there we headed out for a day of exploration. Up to Cashiers and east into Transylvania County then south to Whitewater Falls with a...

Field of Dreams
“Build it and they will come.” It's the theme of the 1989 movie, Field of Dreams which we watched shortly after our teenaged son read W.P. Kinsella's novel, Shoeless Joe. Through the years we've rewatched this film quite a few times fascinated with the historical...
Effigy Mounds National Monument
Effigy Mounds Video The 10:30AM Ranger led Fire Point Hike at Effigy Mounds National Monument near Harper's Ferry, Iowa was well worth the effort to leave our campsite early this morning. Located adjacent to Iowa's section of the Great River Road overlooking the...
Paddling Across
Together we’ve crossed the Mississippi River countless times via bridges. A few years ago at Lake Itasca we did it across stepping stones. Today Karen did it on a stand up paddle board! Ever since our first experience trying a stand up paddle board in Wisconsin, Karen...
