Almost Keyless

Family

If you can tell a person’s troubles by the number of keys he carries then we are nearly trouble free. After the inspection of our very very clean apartment we turned in our keys. We are now down to a car key and a storage unit key each. We left the car in the garage of The Madison and walked around downtown on errands. We laughed over the fact that we were homeless in downtown St Petersburg. However we opted not to panhandle. We ended the day with a temporary home at the Vinoy. Steve’s dad spent his first night in St Petersburg at the Vinoy in 1957 as he was making arrangements to move his family here from Cincinnati. We thought it would be poetic for us to spend our last night here at the historic downtown hotel. We dined at Moon Under Water under the careful eye of one of our favorite servers, David.

National Portrait Gallery

National Portrait Gallery

It was a most educational visit to the newly renovated National Portrait Gallery at Trafalgar Square in Central London. We were intrigued with the contemporary approach to presenting British History.

Bletchley Park

Bletchley Park

It was at Bletchley Park that the Allied Codebreakers deciphered German military messages during the Second World War. A free guided tour gave us a good overview of the campus and the activities that occurred here from 1938 to 1945.

Fenton House and Spaniards Inn

Fenton House and Spaniards Inn

A lovely way to spend a Sunday in Hampstead. We visited the historic Fenton House to view lots of lovely collectibles, to listen to and learn about harpsicords, and to tour and linger in the garden before heading off to the historic Spaniard’s Inn for a most delectable Sunday Roast.
