Six of us ventured out in search of breakfast and absolutely scored at Mother’s. Afterwards Laura & Mason and the two of us headed to The National World War II Museum. For hours we immersed ourselves in history of this global conflict from many different angles. Of special interest to Laura was the section on the contributions of the Merchant Marine. Karen appreciated the display of the Grumman TBM Avenger, the plane in which  her father trained in preparation for the war in the Pacific as part of the Navy Air Corps. We finished the visit by viewing “Beyond All Boundaries” for an excellent overview. It’s amazing how much this museum has expanded and improved since we first visited in July 2004!
Burgh House Hampstead
Off the beaten path is Hampstead is the more than three hundred year old Burgh House with a fascinating history. It’s now a community center, local museum, gallery, concert venue, event space, and more open to the public four days a week. We popped over for a bite to eat and to peruse the galleries to learn a little more about Hampstead history.
