
Sunday afternoon is the time when the smoking happens. Brisket and turkey breast on the smoker under Steve’s supervision. Bill’s going to be braising the ribs. The Boston butts are chilling in the fridge awaiting their turn over the smoking coals. All this for tomorrow. Meanwhile there’s mimosas and munchies in the kitchen, a puzzle in progress on the deck, a bit of swing dancing in the living room, and Holzman brats on the dinner menu.
Dakar, Senegal: A Wolof Village & The Pink Lake
Queen Mary 2’s arrival in the Port of Dakar, Senegal was heralded in the local press and greeted with ceremony. Our own excursion took us on a coach journey through the streets of the capital city to visit a Wolof village and the shore of Lake Retba, the salty lake famed for an intense pink color.
