Early this morning we opted to skip the early morning Ranger Talk on the beach thinking we’d catch it tomorrow before we pack up. Then as we were cleaning up after breakfast the rain started. We tucked the generator in under the T@B for shelter then we tucked ourselves inside the T@B to read our ebooks and wait it out. After a while we dug out the MSR stove and heated water for tea. After a lengthy discussion of the advantages of a 400 over a T@B on a day like today, then another one about how grateful we are to be in a T@B rather than a Silver Shadow on a day like today, we decided to make lunch indoors. Mountain House Freeze Dried Beef Stew. Not too bad! Later in the afternoon we ventured over to the store for some snacks, some healthier than others, and a peek at the forecast. Don’t know if we’ll get to do that ranger talk tomorrow after all. Might be using the MSR stove another time or two today! We’re at Kalaloch. Got rain?
Dakar, Senegal: A Wolof Village & The Pink Lake
Queen Mary 2’s arrival in the Port of Dakar, Senegal was heralded in the local press and greeted with ceremony. Our own excursion took us on a coach journey through the streets of the capital city to visit a Wolof village and the shore of Lake Retba, the salty lake famed for an intense pink color.
