Waitakere, the Wild West of Auckland
From Auckland we traveled west today into the Waitakere Ranges to the Aritaki Visitors Center then on the Piha Beach to
New Zealand’s Glow Worms and Kauri Trees
After five days at sea we arrived at the northern tip of New Zealand’s North Island for a day learning about the tiny glow worms and the gigantic Kauri trees as well as an overview of New Zealand history and culture.
French Polynesia
Our two day visit to French Polynesia gave us an opportunity to learn more about the cultural and history of these islands. With museums and formal gardens Tahiti gave us lots of insight. On the other hand the less developed nearby island of Mo’orea gave us a peek into the soul of the islanders.
Sailing Into Summer
As we sail west from San Francisco on our around the world journey we’re excited to visit locales new to us but we’re also truly enjoying the days at sea between destinations. On this segment of sea days we have crossed the Equator. We truly have sailed south into summer.
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park
Our stop in Kailua Bay for a one day visit to the Big Island of Hawaii gave us the opportunity to take an excursion to the Punalu’u Black Sand Beach as well as Volcano House, Nāhuku Lava Tube, and Kīlauea in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park!
