We awakened Monday morning to a National Hurricane Center advisory that suggested that we might be experiencing hurricane force winds by Wednesday. Thinking that among other things, there was the possibility that we could lose electrical power and not be able to move...

Everybody is in the process of sorting out who and what will go where by the end of the month. Boo on the left and Nigel on the right have been buddies for quite a while. But Nigel will be staying with CJ in Tampa this fall while Boo will be traveling with us. Both...
Hometown Memories
Walking the streets of St Petersburg is an activity that is rife with memories for us. For example we often pass the State Theater where the two of us went to watch "Viva Max" on our first date on January 24, 1970. The character of the theater has changed a bit since...
Good Bye to Publix
Publix, "Where working is a pleasure", was a good job for two summers. CJ slept on an airbed in our study and walked to work as a cashier at Publix two blocks away. Thursday was her last shift. Now it's time to get organized for a final semester at USF in Tampa, two...
Home Again, Home Again
Riley didn't want us to go home, and we didn't want to leave, but the time came anyway for us to climb aboard an Airtran non-stop from Akron to Tampa. We came home to The Big Empty to enjoy our last two weeks in St Petersburg!
Going to the Zoo
Spent the afternoon at the Akron Zoo - Riley's first visit to any zoo! It was a beautiful afternoon and there were lots of amazing animals to see. Riley's favorite was the trumpeter swan. We saw wrestling bears and the special exhibit was of Jellyfish!
A Relaxing Day
It was another wonderfully relaxing day visiting with Riley and family, watching the Olympics, Sunday Mass at St. Michael's, knitting, putting a puzzle together, watching the cats tussle, walking outdoors, and a delicious dinner at The Margarita Factory.
Freedom from the Penske
A wonderful day playing with Riley, harvesting vegetables from Dave's garden, unloading the dining room set, shopping for yarn. It's been wonderful not driving/riding in the truck. It was cause for celebration to be able to return that truck and not have to deal with...
Unload and Run
Early morning found us at our mountain house succeeding at shoehorning our possessions into the downstairs bedroom. We were so successful that when we left it did not look at first glance that we had added anything more than two chairs. After spending some time...
Headed for the Mountains
Started out before dawn and headed up I-75 to north of Macon then east on GA 83 to US 441 and north to Dillsboro where we deposited the sofa in a storage unit. Then we proceeded to the Comfort Inn in Sylva, NC for a night’s rest before finishing the unloading....
Planning a trip? Dreaming of travel? Perhaps some of our adventures could inspire yours! Over the last several years we’ve had the distinct pleasure of many cross country journeys traveling though the Lower 48 in tents and our various teardrop campers as well as an amazing Alaska adventure that did not involve a camper.

Our Pod Gathers
Over the last year we've spent many a happy evening in the company of Mary & Steve, our neighbors, our pod members. Beginning in mid-March we all adopted the practice of limiting our contacts, social distancing, masking wearing, and staying home as much as...
Out for Coffee
Normally this would not be a blog-worthy event, but for the past year we've stayed true to our local Covid mitigation guidelines and in staying home as much as possible, we've been making all of our food and drink in our own kitchen. Today we made a tentative first...
Out of Hibernation
Technically last day of February is the last day of meteorological winter, but it sure feels like Spring to us. It's a glorious day here in the mountain cove. It's so warm that we've opened the sliding glass doors not only to let fresh air in but to make it easier for...
