Last evening we spread the MN and the US maps out on the table along with The Minnesota Historical Society brochure and hatched plans to head to the Mille Lacs Indian Museum and Trading Post at Onamia, Minnesota and to stay at Hobby Farm in Oak Park for the night as...

Canal Park, Duluth
Despite the fact that we were way too tired for an adventure and just wanted to hang out inside the T@B, we didn't want to waste the opportunity to get our first taste of Duluth, Minnesota. We arrived in the rain, parked near the Aerial Lift Bridge, got to see it lift...
Meyer’s Beach Trail
See Park Video You know you are in an incredible place when the photos can't even begin to tell the story. The Meyer's Beach Sea Cave Trail is one of those places. parking at the trailhead was congested with folks heading out in kayaks to explore the sea...
Side Trip to Bayview Park
It's a little beach park just off of WI-13 between Washburn and Bayfield, Wisconsin. We'd passed it twice yesterday and had promised ourselves we'd stop this morning then before we'd realized it, we passed it again. We're glad we made a turnaround and came back. We...
Memorial Park Washburn
Right on the shore of Lake Superior, Memorial Park in Washburn, Wisconsin is a city park that's just right for us to plug in and enjoy. Loved the fact that we scored a back in site with a stargazer view of the woods! From here we made the short trip to Bayside to...
Apostle Islands Visitors Center
Although the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore wasn't really on our radar, when we spotted it on the map the other day we quickly decided to include it in our whirlwind tour of Superior's southern shore. To get our bearings we headed to the Visitor Center in Bayfield...
Pasties in Wakefield
As we left Presque Isle we set our sights on finding a Pastie (pass-tee) before leaving Michigan. And success was ours in Wakefield. We saw a sign for Randall Bakery Pasties on our way into town and followed the signs, deviating from our plan to turn right onto US-2....
Presque Isle Waterfalls
What a glorious way to start the day. Sunlight crept in through the stargazer window that looked out into the woods. Hot coffee. Eggs and sausage. And a hike along a portion of the 17 mile Lake Superior Trail to visit Manabezho, Manido, and Nawahada Falls along a...
A Superior Sunset
Presque Isle Campground on the western edge of Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park in Michigan is home for us tonight. When we pulled in, Scott at the ranger station made sure we understood that this is a rustic campground then refused to assign us a spot but...
Agate Falls
As we passed Agate Falls Scenic Site, we realized it was an opportunity too good to pass up, a chance to get out of the car and stretch our legs, to hike under a trestle bridge then walk across it, to see these incredibly scenic falls close up and from high above.

Over the last several years we’ve had the distinct pleasure of many cross country journeys traveling though the Lower 48 in tents and our various teardrop campers as well as an amazing Alaska adventure that did not involve a camper.

Half a Day in Rome
Our recent travel misadventures seriously curtailed our time in Rome pre-cruise but we did get to visit the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel before making the trip to Civitavecchi for an overnight in the port city of Rome preparatory to departing on Allure of the Seas tomorrow.
To Rome But Not According to Plan
Travel plans sometimes go awry. In this case flooding near Milan caused our train trip to be interrupted leading to one Flix Bus journey, three taxi rides, an overnight stay in Milan, and an airline flight to arrive in Rome more than 24 hours later than planned. Not exactly the adventure we had planned but giving us yet another campfire story!
Walking the Streets of Paris
With only a day and a half for exploring Paris we first visited Notre Dame then did a bus tour the first evening. On Day 2 we sampled some of treasures of The Louvre and Musee Rodin before walking back to Notre Dame, a ten mile walk!
