2016 Out West, Road Trip, South Dakota

Although we don’t travel with an itinerary or a specific planned route, we do have a general route in mind. This time Aberdeen was not in the general plan. But then we learned that Paul, a cousin we hadn’t seen in many a year has just moved to this place. A few text messages and a phone call later we’d modified our plan. We’re now in Melgaard City Park. We first parked in a delightfully shady site but our Progressive Industries Electrical Management System informed us that the 30A circuit we plugged into was low voltage. Oops. Conversations with neighbors, a check of the voltage situation on nearby posts, and a decision to move the camper to a site across from our original one. Thank goodness for the PI black box and for a minimal set up. Now to settle in for some quiet time before our guest is expected later this evening.

National Portrait Gallery

National Portrait Gallery

It was a most educational visit to the newly renovated National Portrait Gallery at Trafalgar Square in Central London. We were intrigued with the contemporary approach to presenting British History.

Bletchley Park

Bletchley Park

It was at Bletchley Park that the Allied Codebreakers deciphered German military messages during the Second World War. A free guided tour gave us a good overview of the campus and the activities that occurred here from 1938 to 1945.

Fenton House and Spaniards Inn

Fenton House and Spaniards Inn

A lovely way to spend a Sunday in Hampstead. We visited the historic Fenton House to view lots of lovely collectibles, to listen to and learn about harpsicords, and to tour and linger in the garden before heading off to the historic Spaniard’s Inn for a most delectable Sunday Roast.
